Updated August 2013-Sophomore Year
The skills list on the left are a few skills that I do at Upper Valley Medical Center as a Patient Care Assistant. I am a PRN PCA there. I float to 5 different floors there: med-surg, pediatrics, telemetry, the progressive care unit (PCU), the intensive care unit (ICU), and the emergency room. The only unit that I am not qualified to float to is maternity. The skills below are a list of the skills that I completed during this past semester's clinical. At the time, I was doing a clinical at 9CCP at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. It is the Critical Care Pavilion for post-surgical patients. Instead of it being a regular clinical with 8 students and one instructor, eight of us students were paired up with eight preceptors. This allowed us the opportunity to be one-on-one with our preceptor at all times to ask questions and to make sure that we were prioritizing correctly and doing skills correctly. This was the first year that UC offered such an opportunity to 8 of the 180 nursing students. |
